If you need a break from the pool and beach, the area has many fantastic place to visit for days out and about.


A favourite day out for both us and our guests is undoubtedly Fonts D’el Algar (right). Set amongst the mountains inland from Altea, this little gem is a natural river and waterfall, where the kids can play all day and the adults can relax in wonderful surroundings.


The water is icy cold even at the height of summer and is a welcome relief from the heat of the sun. Be warned, it is cold and will certainly make you ‘feel alive!’ The added bonus, if it is needed, is that it only costs

Another place not to miss is Guadalest (right) - a magnificent Moorish castle built way up in a seemingly impossible position, it really has to be seen to be believed. The views are stunning, the shops sell all sorts of unusual gifts and you can get very reasonable food and drink. A fantastic day out at, again, very little cost.


For those who seek a little more action, the high speed ferry to Ibiza leaves Denia daily and takes just 2 hours (below). Catamarans, glass bottom boats and the coast line train can also be taken in Denia.


Quads, Kayaking, motor bikes, Go-Karting and many more activities are all within 10 minutes of the house and can be arranged for you when you get here.
